The moments that shape how people experience you

Hello,

Communication is never just about the words we say.

It’s about how people experience us - in meetings, presentations, conversations and moments that matter.

This month, I’m sharing insights on executive presence, the journey behind Amplify YOU, and some highlights from recent work with leaders and teams.

Executive Presence Is Often A Game Of Inches

One of the things I love most about my work is that some of the most useful communication tools aren’t created in a boardroom or a training manual.

They’re created in the moment; when someone asks a question, shares a challenge, and we find a simple way forward together.

Recently, a client asked me about handling those moments when you’re answering a question in front of a room full of people.

How do you make the person who asked feel seen, while also engaging everyone else listening?

It’s a small moment, but it can have a big impact on how you’re perceived as a leader.

The answer isn’t about grand gestures. It’s about the small, intentional choices we make — where we place our attention, how we use eye contact, and how we create connection.

In my latest blog, “Executive Presence Is Often A Game Of Inches,” I share the simple framework I created to help leaders navigate these moments with more confidence and presence.

Because executive presence isn’t about taking up more space.

Often, it’s about using the space you already have more intentionally.

A behind-the-scenes look at the making of Amplify YOU

What does it really take to write a book?

In my recent LinkedIn Live, I shared the journey behind creating Amplify YOU - the ideas, experiences and insights that shaped a book designed to help you communicate with greater confidence, clarity and impact.

I also reveal how the book goes beyond the page, featuring exclusive QR codes that bring the content to life giving you access to videos, practical examples and real-time communication strategies.

If you missed the live conversation, you can now watch it back.

Supporting The Next Generation Of Communicators

It was a privilege to present as part of Anaplan’s High Potential Programme.

The commitment to developing communication impact and leadership capability is a clear indicator of Anaplan’s investment in its people and customers.

Helping leaders find their voice, communicate with confidence and create meaningful connection is always a rewarding part of my work.

The Presentation Starts Before The First Slide

"No matter the duration, every presentation matters. And it always comes down to this foundational tenet: The presentation is you."

One of the most common mistakes I see is presenters rushing to their first slide because they think the presentation starts when the content appears on screen.

It doesn’t.

The presentation starts the moment you walk into the room.

I explore this idea further in my latest Sunday column for the Irish Independent.

If there is a particular challenge, emotion, or situation you are wrestling with as a leader this year, reach out. I work with everyone from emerging leaders to global executives, and the themes are often more similar than different.

We all want to be heard. We all want to make a difference. We all want to feel that the way we show up in the world actually matters.

All the best, Gina
